What you will learn

Mantra Chanting

Chanting has been an integral part of all religions through the ages. As we sit together in one place, we have different thoughts. But when we start chanting, there is one thought and one rhythm in all our minds. All minds become one. This oneness creates a profound energy that enlivens us.

1. TECHNIQUES, TRAINING, & PRACTICE
This module provides a comprehensive foundation in the essential techniques of yoga. Students will develop a strong personal practice by mastering asana (postures), pranayama (breath control), kriya (cleansing techniques), bandhas (energy locks), and meditation. The training emphasizes the principles of alignment, energetic awareness, and safe adjustment techniques for various body types. Through guided teaching practice and feedback sessions, students learn how to structure classes, offer verbal and hands-on adjustments, and adapt yoga practices for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. Special focus is placed on the use of props to ensure precision, especially in Iyengar yoga, and modifications to accommodate injuries or special populations.

2. ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY
This module delves deep into the science of the body, covering both gross and subtle anatomy. Students explore the skeletal system, muscles, fascia, joints, and their movement patterns in relation to yoga. Detailed studies of how yoga affects the cardiovascular, respiratory, and nervous systems are also included. Additionally, this section covers how asanas and pranayama influence the body’s internal organs, systems of digestion, circulation, and hormones. The curriculum integrates modern anatomical principles with yogic concepts such as prana (life force), nadis (energy channels), and chakras (energy centers), providing a holistic understanding of human physiology. This knowledge ensures that students are equipped to guide safe, effective, and therapeutic yoga sessions, including injury prevention and rehabilitation.

3. YOGA HUMANITIES
This section goes beyond the physical aspects of yoga, diving into its rich philosophical and spiritual traditions. Students engage with classical yogic texts like the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Bhagavad Gita, and Hatha Yoga Pradipika to understand the ethical, moral, and spiritual dimensions of yoga. In addition to these ancient teachings, students are introduced to the evolution of yoga in the modern world, exploring how yoga has shifted from its origins in India to its globalized practice today. Lectures cover important yogic concepts such as the Eight Limbs of Yoga (Ashtanga Yoga), karma (selfless action), dharma (purpose), and how these apply to both personal practice and teaching. The module also highlights yoga's cultural heritage, giving students an understanding of its historical context and contemporary relevance.

4. PROFESSIONAL ESSENTIALS
This module equips future yoga teachers with the key skills needed to establish a successful and ethical teaching career. It includes in-depth training in classroom management, sequencing, and adapting lessons for different audiences, such as group classes, one-on-one sessions, and special needs students. Topics like teaching methodology, voice modulation, and body language are explored to enhance the delivery of instructions. The business aspect of yoga is also covered, including marketing, branding, and setting up a yoga studio or online presence. Ethical considerations in yoga teaching, such as maintaining boundaries, respecting cultural sensitivities, and upholding the teacher-student relationship, are also emphasized. Students will leave with a clear understanding of how to foster a professional teaching environment while maintaining authenticity and respect for the deeper aspects of the practice.
